In New York City today, for the first time in recent memory, a large swath of progressive New York City stakeholders and the city’s leadership are aligned around a common vision for public education.

In this issue of Voices in Urban Education, “The Education Election,” authors from the organizations that made that happen tell their stories. Throughout the 2013 New York City mayoral campaign, an array of long-standing organizations forged citywide partnerships that engaged the community in envisioning what their children’s education should look like and influenced the candidates’ positions.
