Gateway Cities English Language Learner Enrichment Academies

This AISR study, commissioned by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Education, aimed to evaluate a summer academy held in 2014 in 20 cities to support English language fluency and comprehension for some of the state’s most vulnerable English learners. All the academies posted gains in their students’ English proficiency and created successful environments for ELLs. The report makes recommendations for how the state could serve additional ELLs even more effectively.
