DEEPS Career Opportunities and Research in Earth Science (CORES)

DEEPS Career Opportunities and Research in Earth Science (CORES)’ is a DEEPS’ outreach program that introduces Providence high school students to the field of Earth, Environmental and Planetary sciences and the career opportunities it presents. The program is designed to run in 3-year cycles following a cohort of interested students from Hope High School. The goals of the program are: 1) to increase high school students’ exposure to Earth, Environmental and Planetary sciences topics and related careers through continuous interaction with DC volunteers, as well as 2) to increase the number of students applying to and taking advantage of the Pre College Program experience at Brown during the summer. Going through the application process and the summer experience will be an asset for college applications for students who decide to pursue that path. 3) offer a summer research experience in the academic setting at DEEPS to interested students.
