Providence Public Schools

The Providence Public School District (PPSD) educates 24,000 students every year in 41 schools. The school district staffs 2,000 educators and over 600 staff employees, making it the City of Providence’s largest department.

As part of PPSD’s Strategic Plan, the district outlines five major goals, which are ensuring academic achievement, maximizing learning time, growing a strong workforce, providing improved service, and allocating resources strategically. Strategies to achieve the five goals include personalizing instruction, providing pathways that prepare students for college and career, strengthening district capacity and systems to meet the social-emotional needs of students, increasing staff and family engagement, and improving the annual budgeting process to support school-based decision-making.
