Ellen Viruleg is the Managing Director at the Annenberg Institute at Brown University. Viruleg has extensive experience working with policymakers and leaders across sectors, on issues of strategy, transformational change, and organizational design. Prior to coming to Annenberg, she served as Executive Director of Opportunity Insights at Harvard University. She came to Harvard after seven years at McKinsey & Co as a strategy and organization consultant, working closely with clients to develop tailored solutions that ensure positive impact and sustainable results. She began her professional career in Baltimore City Public Schools, where she served as as a secondary math teacher and teacher-coach for five years.
Viruleg holds an EdD and EdM in education policy from Harvard University Graduate School of Education, a master in teaching from John Hopkins, and a bachelor’s in mathematics from Northwestern University. She lives in Providence, Rhode Island with her husband and three children.
