Leiah Groom-Thomas is a Research Project Manager at the Annenberg Institute at Brown University. Her interests include facilitating children’s early language and literacy development, particularly meaning-focused skills and evidence-based practices to support comprehension. Much of her work lends itself to mixed methodologies, such as comparative case study and experimental designs to identify ways to improve children’s outcomes during preschool and elementary years. Leiah works at the intersection of research and practice as her role focuses primarily on managing the Acelero Learning Research Partnership.
Leiah holds an M.A. in Reading and Literacy in Early and Middle Childhood and a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from The Ohio State University. Her background as a practitioner informs her work and scholarly interests. Leiah is in the final stages of receiving a Ph.D. in Education from The Ohio State University and is excited to bring an early childhood lens to the Annenberg team. Prior to Annenberg, Leiah was a Graduate Research Associate at the Crane Center for Early Childhood Research and Policy at Ohio State.
